Germany has recorded record numbers of immigration. According to the statistical service, about 2.7 million people entered the country for residence in 2022. During the same period, 1.2 million people left Germany.
Thus, the difference between arrivals and departures from the country during the reporting period was almost 1.5 million people. This is four times more than in 2021 when the number of immigrants in Germany exceeded the number of emigrants by 329 thousand people. The index is the highest since 1950.
