German intelligence did not foresee Prigozhin's rebellion

"The German government was surprised by the dramatic events in Russia. The early warning system did not work," writes Der Spiegel. The Federal Intelligence Service informed the chancellor's office about the uprising only on the evening of June 23. According to The Washington Post, in mid-June, US intelligence services had information that Prigozhin was planning a violent operation in Russia.

As Der Spiegel writes, other vital departments of the German government were informed only on the morning of June 24. At that time, Prigozhin's forces had already entered Doni Rostov, where they had taken control of military facilities.
