US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday at the start of the second and final day of a rare visit to Beijing aimed at averting the many rifts between the rival powers.
The focus of attention is whether Blinken will also meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping later in the day, which sources familiar with the matter say is possible but has yet to be confirmed by the State Department or Chinese officials.
Blinken is also expected to meet with American business people in China's healthcare, automotive, and entertainment industries to learn more about China's business environment.
