"Striking Crimea with American F-16 fighter jets will be an attack on Russia;" Ambassador of Russia to the USA

"Possible strikes by the armed forces of Ukraine with American F-16 fighter jets on the territory of Crimea will be seen by Moscow as an attack on one of the regions of Russia," said Anatoly Antonov, the Russian ambassador to the USA. "I want to caution US administration officials against hasty judgments about Crimea, especially in blessing the Kyiv regime for airstrikes on the peninsula."
Just to remind you that striking this area is considered by us as an attack on any other region of the Russian Federation. The United States must be fully aware of Russia's possible response."
