Referring to the White House press service, RIA Novosti reports that US President Joe Biden had an informal meeting with the relatives of Wall Street Journal (WSJ) journalist Evan Gershkovich, arrested in Russia on suspicion of espionage.
The journalist's parents, Ella Millman and Mikhail Gershkovich, his sister Daniel Gershkovich, and the wife of the American leader, Jill Biden, were present at the meeting.
On the same day, the Bidens also met with American basketball player Brittney Greener, who was previously convicted in Russia for drug smuggling. At the end of last year, Greiner was returned to his homeland as part of an exchange with the Russian Federation with the Russian Viktor Bout, who was serving a prison sentence.
