The EU calls for the withdrawal of troops from the Armenian-Azerbaijani border along the 1991 line

EU foreign relations and security policy spokesperson Sabina Masrali referred to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict that took place yesterday near Tegh village of Goris region, "The EU is sorry for the armed clashes that led to the deaths and injuries of Armenian and Azerbaijani servicemen yesterday in the Teghi region of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. This incident again emphasizes that in the absence of a demarcated border, the 1991 line must be respected. The parties' forces must withdraw safely from that line to prevent similar incidents.

Just so you know, previous commitments must be respected, including those reached in Prague in October 2022 regarding the mutual recognition of territorial integrity under the Alma Ata Declaration of 1991. The EU also calls for intensifying the border delimitation negotiations and is ready to support that process. We call for restraint and resolve all disputes peacefully. The EU continues to support these efforts, including at the highest level, in the presence of the EU mission in Armenia."
