The BBC has asked for the "state media" label to be removed

The BBC said the British Broadcasting Corporation is "funded by the British public through a license fee." Meanwhile, Britain's Foreign Office announced in March that the authorities had allocated £20 million to the BBC to support English-language broadcasting and combat disinformation.
