The USA imposed sanctions on high-ranking Georgian judges

The USA imposed visa sanctions on high-ranking Georgian judges and Georgia's four Supreme Council of Justice members. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken accused them of "significant corruption."

"Those persons abused their positions as presidents of Georgian courts and members of the Supreme Council of Justice, undermining the rule of law and public trust in the legal system of Georgia. The United States of America continues to support the citizens of Georgia in strengthening democracy and rule. It will continue to hold accountable those who abuse state power for personal gain. We support all judges who have the courage and integrity to act impartially and independently," said a statement posted on the website of the US Embassy in Tbilisi.
