The Minister of Defense of France, Sebastien Lecornu, announced that the age of reservists in the French army is planned to be increased to 70, and in some cases, up to 72 years. Lecorne noted that in the past, many "high-class professionals" who wanted to continue their service could not do so due to the age limit. Currently, the maximum age of reservists in France is 65 years.
On Tuesday, Lecornu presented the 2024-2030 military planning bill. In particular, it assumes an annual increase of 3-4 billion euros in defense costs. According to the bill, the 2030 defense budget will be 69 billion euros. This year it is 43.9 billion euros.
