The foreign ministers of Japan and China held their first talks in more than three years on Sunday, April 2.
Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, during a meeting with his counterpart Qin Hang, protested the detention of a Japanese citizen in Beijing and expressed Tokyo's "deep concern" over the escalation of Chinese military activity near Taiwan and around Japan.
