The European Commission is delaying the $20.5 billion aid to Italy

On Tuesday, Bloomberg reported that the European Commission is delaying 19 billion euros ($20.5 billion) in aid to the country to fight the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic amid doubts about the Italian government's ability to meet its obligations.

The total financial assistance should be 192 billion euros ($207.3 billion), which EU members collected together. Italy has already received 67 billion euros ($72.4 billion) but has been unable to spend it quickly and efficiently due to bureaucratic red tape.
