India will spend around $12 billion over the next two years to build one of the country's largest international air traffic hubs. Bloomberg reports.
The private sector will invest about 9 billion dollars, and the Airports Authority of India - about 3 billion.
The air travel market in India is growing faster than in other countries. Boeing predicts 7% annual growth from 2022-41, compared to China's 4.9%. "Improving the transport infrastructure is necessary to attract Western corporations that move businesses from China," the agency notes.
