Canada has called on the US, Japan and South Korea to form a new alliance against Russia and China

Canada has proposed creating a quadruple cooperation mechanism with Japan, South Korea, and the United States to counter China and Russia. The country's diplomatic sources informed the Japanese Kyodo agency.

Canada expressed the idea directly to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida when he visited Ottawa in January. Expanding the existing trilateral mechanism, which includes the United States and its key Asian allies, will help boost ties between countries and liberalize the democratic camp in the Pacific region.
