On the eve of the visit to Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping published articles on bilateral relations.
The article by the Russian President, published in the Chinese newspaper People's Daily, mentions that the relations between Moscow and Beijing have reached the highest level in their history. In an article published in "Российская газета," Xi Jinping noted that together with Putin, he opened a new chapter for the cooperation between the two countries.
The issue of Ukraine
In both articles, special attention is paid to the topic of Ukraine. Xi Jinping again spoke about how China sees a possible way out of the crisis, and Putin reminded that Russia is open to political and diplomatic settlement. He was not the one who stopped the negotiations.
As Xi Jinping emphasized, Russia and China firmly defend the world order based on international law, "realize true multipolarity with effective steps and advocate for the formation of a new type of international relations." Moscow and Beijing, Putin noted, support a just world order based on the principles of international law, not the so-called "golden billion."
Russia, Putin reminded, is open to a political-diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, "However, we have by no means stopped the peace talks in April 2022." Xi Jinping reiterated China's position on Ukraine and recalled the previously proposed document, which, he said, "reflects the unity of the views of the world community on overcoming the Ukrainian crisis." "A rational way out of the situation and a path to lasting peace will be found if all parties are guided by the concept of common and sustainable security, continue dialogue and consultations in an equal, reasonable and pragmatic manner."
