A Russian Su-27 fighter jet collided with an American MQ-9 drone in the Black Sea, the US European Command (EUCOM) reports.
"One of the Russian Su-27 planes hit the propeller of the MQ-9," the message says.
The command explained that the drone fell into international waters after the collision. It is believed that shortly before that, the Su-27 performed safe maneuvers.
EUCOM also said the drone was conducting "routine operations" in the international airspace of the Black Sea region.
US President Joe Biden was informed about the incident, the White House said. They noted that the State Department intends to contact Russia on this issue.
