Citing the data of the Ministry of Defense, the "DPA" agency reported that against the background of Russia's large-scale war against Ukraine, the number of new service members has increased in Germany. In 2022, 18,775 people joined the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr), 12% more than a year ago.
At the same time, before the pandemic, the number of recruits was even higher: in 2019, 20,170 people were drafted into the Bundeswehr.
