Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission, is running for the post of NATO Secretary General if she is not re-elected to the European Commission. The Italian "La Repubblica" newspaper made this claim on Tuesday. According to the newspaper, its preparation started a few weeks ago.
"Von der Leyen's trip to Canada and the USA, which started on March 7, should be considered in a different light, that is, in the context of his possible candidacy for the post of NATO Secretary General," the publication writes.
