Vietnam's parliament has elected a new president

The Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Vuong Dinh Hue, announced that the parliament of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on Thursday elected Vo Van Thuong, a member of the political bureau of the party and a permanent member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the ruling Communist Party of Vietnam, as the country's new president.
