Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as prospects for normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan, at a meeting held in Istanbul on Saturday. This is reported by the TASS agency.
"During the conversation, prospects for further deepening of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey in the political, economic, trade, energy, military and military-technical spheres were discussed. The leaders of the states also exchanged ideas on the agenda of peace and regulation of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan," the message said.
Aliyev expressed his condolences to Erdogan and the people of Turkey regarding the victims of the devastating earthquakes. He emphasized that Azerbaijan will continue to provide humanitarian aid to eliminate the consequences of the disaster.
In turn, Erdogan thanked for the support and solidarity shown by Azerbaijan after the earthquakes. "The President of Turkey emphasized that the Azerbaijani rescuers and doctors continue to work in the earthquake zone with great courage and determination, they work selflessly to save people," the source informs.
