The Central Military District of the Russian Federation has a new commander

Lieutenant-General Andrey Mordvichev replaced Colonel-General Alexander Lapin as the commander of the Central Military District.

State Duma deputy Dmitry Sablin announced Mordvichev's appointment in mid-January, congratulating him on his appointment as district commander.

General Mordvichev previously commanded the 8th Army units in the battles of Mariupol.
