Lithium mines were found for the first time in India

The Geological Survey of India (GSI) on Thursday said it had discovered lithium deposits for the first time in the country.

India has recently been looking to boost its supply of crucial minerals (including lithium) critical to advancing electric vehicle projects.

Inferred reserves of 5.9 million tonnes of lithium have been discovered in the Reas region of the northern union of Jammu and Kashmir.
