The head of the German "Rheinmetall" defense concern, Armin Paperger, told the Handelsblatt newspaper that he wants to send the newest Panther tanks to Ukraine. This project is still in the pre-production stage, but Papperger promises to start deliveries within 15-18 months, provided that the government grants an export license.
According to his assessment, Leopard-2 tanks can be supplied from EU countries only with great difficulty because they need them. Moreover, it is advisable to build a tank factory on the territory of Ukraine, Papperger noted.
