"More than 60 countries have supported Turkey in these difficult days, thank you;" Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Hatay, one of the cities affected by earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 in Ghahramanmarash.

"We survived one of the biggest earthquakes in our history. "Unfortunately, Hatay is one of the cities most affected by this disaster, which suffered the greatest destruction and loss of life," Erdogan said.

He noted that more than 60 countries supported Turkey in these difficult days. The President of Turkey thanked Azerbaijan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait, who was the first to react and rush to help.

Noting that organizations and citizens in Turkey have provided financial and humanitarian support to AFAD, Erdogan thanked the citizens for their support.

"Today is a day of trials for us; I hope our people will also withstand it. Currently, the number of earthquake victims in Turkey is 9057, and the number of those killed in Hata is 3356. The number of wounded in the country is 52,979, the number of destroyed buildings is 6,444, now a total of 21,200 soldiers, gendarmerie, and police work in Hatay," he said.
