Strong earthquake in Turkey; the number of troops is not yet known

A strong earthquake occurred in the southeast of Turkey, not far from the border with Syria. The exact number of victims is not known. The number is steadily increasing. Now, active search operations are being conducted in the areas affected by the disaster.

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake occurred at 04:17 local time, at a depth of 17.9 km, near the city of Gaziantep.

Ten cities in Turkey were affected, including Gaziantep, Malatya, Adana, and Diyarbekir.

The tremors were felt in the capital Ankara and other Turkish cities and across the region in Cyprus, Lebanon, and Syria.
