This month, the Common Aviation Area Agreement (CAAA) between the European Union and Armenia entered into an administrative application. The agreement was signed on November 15, 2021, and aims to eliminate market restrictions and create a common aviation area between Armenia and the EU.
It means that all EU airlines can operate direct flights from any point in the EU to any airport in Armenia and vice versa. Also, all restrictions on flights between Armenia and the EU will be lifted, and open and fair competition provisions will ensure a level playing field.
According to the agreement, Armenia will further align its legislation with EU aviation rules and standards in aviation safety, air traffic management, environment, economic regulation, competition, consumer protection, and social aspects.
