Michael Roth, the chairman of the Bundestag's foreign relations committee, made a statement regarding the blockade of the Lachine Corridor.
"From December 12, 2022, Azerbaijani "environmental activists" closed the Lachin Corridor, a lifeline in Nagorno-Karabakh. Access to food and health care is under serious threat. The humanitarian situation is rapidly deteriorating.
These "activists," supported by the government of Azerbaijan, are betting on increased pressure on Armenia in the peace negotiations. Russian peacekeepers do not want to intervene. Russia's weakness creates a security deadlock in the entire Caucasus.
The EU should intensify its efforts in the South Caucasus to ensure peace and stability. Establishing the EU civilian observation mission in Armenia is a reasonable and necessary step, but the situation remains very fragile," he wrote on his Twitter page.
Since 12 Dec 2022, azerbaijani "environmental activists" are blocking the #LachinCorridor, the lifeline for the people in Nagorno-Karabakh. Access to food + medical aid is seriously threatened. The humanitarian situation is deteriorating quickly. 🧵1/3
