The EU has decided to create a strategic stockpile of essential medicines

The Financial Times newspaper reported on Thursday that the European Union plans to create a strategic stockpile of medicines and, for this purpose, obligate manufacturers to guarantee their supplies.
The representative of the European Commission told the newspaper that the lack of pharmaceutical preparations is a "systemic challenge" for the Union member states. "There is a need to secure strategic autonomy over the supply of essential medicines such as paracetamol and penicillin."
