The Defense Department of Georgia announced on Tuesday that in 2008, Georgia did not receive "Buk" anti-aircraft missile complexes from Ukraine for free, they were bought by secret agreement.
"The fact that Ukraine handed over Buk anti-aircraft systems to Georgia free of charge does not correspond to reality. The Department of Defense received these systems in 2007 through a multi-million dollar purchase. It was carried out under a secret agreement, which is why we don't have more specific details," the Georgian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
