In Brazil, the post-election demonstrations turned into large-scale riots and attacks on the parliament building. Hundreds of supporters of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro stormed the country's National Congress. They also attacked the structure of the Supreme Court and the presidential palace.
The police used tear gas against the protesters, and three hours later, they managed to stop what was happening. The number of arrested people reaches about 400.
This attack happened a week after the inauguration of the country's new president, Lula da Silva. Protesters who support Bolsonaro and his far-right policies refuse to accept his defeat in the election. Bolsonaro, however, condemned the actions of his supporters.
The newly elected president described what was happening as "acts of vandalism and fascism." According to him, this is unprecedented in the country's history.
Around 18:30, law enforcement agencies regained control over all three buildings and arrested the attack participants.
