On Friday, China Central Television reported that China's ambassador to the United States, Qin Gan, has been appointed China's foreign minister.
Such a decision was made at the Standing Committee of the All-China People's Assembly meeting.
The TV channel clarifies that the former head of the foreign policy department, Wang Yi, is ceasing to hold his position. He has been the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China since 2013.
