Sullivan called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to de-escalate tensions

US President's National Security Assistant, Jake Sullivan, in private talks with his counterparts in Azerbaijan and Armenia on Thursday, called on them to consider steps that will lead to easing of bilateral tensions and become the basis of neighborly relations. Sullivan talked separately with Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the RA Security Council, and Hikmet Hajiyev, the head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Azerbaijani President's Office.

"Mr. Sullivan called on both sides to consider steps that would ease tensions and lay the foundation for good neighborly relations in the future. "Sullivan noted our ongoing concern about the difficulty of accessing the Lachin Corridor and the growing humanitarian consequences of this situation, and called for the full restoration of free movement through the corridor," the statement said.
