Wealthy women in Afghanistan open secret fitness clubs for acquaintances, contrary to the prohibitions imposed by the Taliban radical movement that came to power in the country. The Reuters agency reported this on Wednesday.
Women's gyms are typically organized in the basements of private homes in Kabul and several other major cities.
They have no signs; only acquaintances go there and only through the back entrance; the windows are heavily decorated, and there is no music. They are run by women, many of whom were deprived of well-paid jobs after the Taliban came to power.
