PACE observers call for the restoration of free movement through the Lachin Corridor

PACE observers call for the restoration of free movement through the Lachin Corridor. In a joint statement, the four co-rapporteurs of PACE, Azerbaijan, and Armenia in monitoring addressed the situation in Lachin, expressing their concern about the interruption of free movement.

"We are deeply concerned about the violation of freedom of movement in the Lachine Corridor, which is causing considerable suffering to the population. The freedom and security of movement of people and goods along the corridor must be urgently restored. We'd like to call on all parties to the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, to take the necessary measures immediately.

The PACE Monitoring Commission discussed the situation and diplomatic efforts to achieve long-term peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan on Wednesday with the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Toivo Klaar, and French Co-Chair of the OSCE Brice Roquefault.

We reaffirm our readiness to provide all necessary political support, including through a fact-finding mission in the region," said Ian Liddell-Granger (United Kingdom), Liz Kristoffersen (Norway), Kimmo Kiljunen (Finland, SOC) and Boriana Aberg ( Sweden) in a signed statement.
