The US Congress's Senate (upper house) has approved the defense budget project for the fiscal year 2023 (started on October 1) in the amount of 858 billion dollars.
83 senators voted "for" and 11 "against" the adoption of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
Of the mentioned amount, 817 billion dollars will be allocated to the needs of the Pentagon and 30 billion dollars to nuclear costs in the Ministry of Energy.
The bill calls for a 4.6% increase in military pay, the Pentagon's conversion of its non-tactical vehicles to zero-emission vehicles, and $10 billion in military aid to Taiwan through 2027.
