German defense concern Rheinmetall is building a significant new munitions plant after Switzerland's two refusals to re-export ammunition to Ukraine. Production lines for the medium-caliber shot should be ready as early as January to autonomously supply ammunition to the German armed forces, the Bundeswehr. The "DPA" news agency reported this.
According to the representative of Rheinmetall, the main focus is on restoring ammunition supply to Germany, which will be independent of foreign production capacity. A decision was made to establish a production of 20-35 mm ammunition in Germany.
