The US government has warned the Georgian government

The US State Department is "very closely monitoring" the treatment of the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, and reminds that the Georgian government is responsible for the dignified treatment.

"The protection of Mr. Saakashvili's health and human rights is the responsibility of the Georgian government. Based on the recommendations of the public defender's medical experts, we will continue to speak with the appropriate individuals to take the necessary steps for Saakashvili's health and well-being," the State Department said in a statement.
