A new oil field has been discovered in Turkey

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has announced the discovery of a field in southeastern Turkey with reserves of 150 million barrels of net oil reserves estimated at $12 billion.

Earlier, Erdogan announced "good news" regarding oil exploration in the country.

"Turkey has discovered 150 million barrels of pure oil reserves in the Gabar mountain region (in the province of Sirnak in the south-east of the country). The value of the reserves is about 12 billion dollars," Erdogan said in his address to the Cabinet of Ministers, quoted by Anadolu Agency.
