Japan and NATO will jointly produce fighter jets

Japan, Great Britain, and Italy authorities jointly intend to develop a new generation of fighter jets by 2035. The project was announced at the NATO summit in Madrid by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

Official Tokyo has repeatedly stated that Japan is focused on defense cooperation with NATO countries against the backdrop of threats in the Pacific region.

As the Kyodo agency reports, the Japanese Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and British BAE Systems companies will play a leading role in the project.
