French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he is in direct contact with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
"I maintain regular discussions and direct contact with President Putin because I think the best way to resume interaction is to maintain this direct channel [of communication]," Macron said in an interview with American CBS television on Sunday. He noted that "the worst thing is isolation" in such a situation.
Answering the question about how he sees the end of the conflict in Ukraine, Macron said that "Ukrainians should decide this." "The only way out of this situation is negotiations. I don't see military options," the French president emphasized.
