The United Nations is calling for a record $51.5 billion to go to the world's neediest

On Thursday, Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and UN Emergency Relief Coordinator, announced that a record $51.5 billion is needed to help 230 million vulnerable people in nearly 70 countries next year.

UN estimates that the total number of people in need worldwide will increase by 65 million.
