US charge d'affaires in Russia Elizabeth Rudd told "Ria Novosti" that Russia and the US have pipelines to discuss risk management (predominantly nuclear) at the level of intelligence agencies.
"The issue of nuclear risk management was the purpose of the meeting between CIA director Burns and his Russian counterpart," he said, adding that the issue of the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine was not discussed at the meeting.
On November 14, CIA Director William Burns and Head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin met in Ankara. The Kremlin detailed that the American side initiated the negotiations.
The White House said Burns did not negotiate with Naryshkin to end the war, and his message referred to the consequences of Russia using nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
