The Minister of the Interior of Austria is against the expansion of the Schengen zone

On Austrian television, Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner stated that he did not want to support the expansion of the Schengen Agreement.
"For the population, the intolerable situation at the border shows that Schengen does not work. Therefore, further expansion of this system does not make sense. My opinion, as the minister responsible for security, is negative," said Karner, representing Austria's ruling People's Party.
