The poverty rate in Venezuela decreased for the first time in seven years, dropping from 90.9% to 81.5% in one year. The report published by the local Catholic University contains such an assessment.
According to the report, in 2022, 81.5% of the population will be below the poverty line; 8 out of 10 Venezuelans do not have enough money to purchase a basic consumer basket. In 2021, this indicator was 90.9%.
In Venezuela, extreme poverty decreased by almost 15% in one year, from 68% to 53.3%.
