The US has decided not to provide Ukraine with modern strike drones

The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, reports that the administration of US President Joe Biden has decided not to transfer modern Gray Eagle MQ-1C attack drones to Kyiv. It should be noted that Ukraine and the members of the US Congress, who support it, have repeatedly asked to provide such weapons.

According to the publication, the Pentagon opposed the supplies, fearing they could escalate the conflict and signal to Moscow that the US was providing Kyiv with weapons that could strike Russian territory.

US officials were also concerned that the drones could be shot down on the battlefield, exposing some of the latest technology, such as the aircraft's cameras, to the enemy. "However, those risks were not decisive when making a decision." the publication says.
