Facebook will lay off 11,000 employees

On Wednesday, November 9, Mark Zuckerberg, the head of Meta, announced that Meta, which also owns social networks Facebook and Instagram, will lay off 11,000 employees in the biggest layoff in the company's history.

“I have decided to reduce our team by approximately 13% and lay off more than 11,000 talented employees. We are also taking a number of additional steps to become a more efficient company by cutting costs and extending the hiring freeze in the first quarter," Zuckerberg said in an open letter to employees.
