Europe can receive Russian gas through Turkey's "gas hub"; there is such a need, said the official representative of the Turkish President, Ibrahim Kalin.
The Presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, earlier instructed to develop in detail and quickly the issue of creating a "gas hub" in Turkey, through which, in particular, the Russian Federation can transfer the transit of gas from the "North Stream" to the Black Sea region and Turkey. Erdogan believes that Europe can get Russian gas through Turkey.
"It will not be an easy process for Europe to give up Russian gas; it will take years, so now it is more profitable for Europe to get Russian gas through the territory of Turkey than to build alternative routes," Kalin said in an interview with CNN Turk.
Kalin also recalled the failed work of Europe on the Nabucco project.
"We believe that after the resolution of the situation in Ukraine, the cooperation between the West and the Russian Federation in the matter of gas will be regulated," emphasized the representative of the head of Turkey.
According to him, Turkey is a convenient distributor of possible gas supplies from the Mediterranean and alternative sources.
