Tasnim agency reports that Iran began construction on a new 10-megawatt nuclear research reactor in the city of Spain on Thursday.
The opening ceremony of the reactor construction project was held with Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
According to the agency, the new reactor is a pool type. It will run on 20% enriched plastic to fuel. It will be used for the production of radioisotopes used in medicine and industry, the development of research in the field of neutron radiation, and the testing of nuclear fuel materials.
Iranian specialists carry out the reactor's design and construction exclusively.
