About 10,000 people participated in the commemoration ceremony in Sekkez, Iran, where 22-year-old Mahsa Amin, who died after being detained, is buried.
According to the Iranian news agency ISNA, on the 40th day after the death, the ceremony participants gathered near the Iranian girl's grave. The ceremony occurred against intensified measures taken by the Iranian security forces.
Since September 17, there have been large-scale protests in Iran concerning the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. The girl was detained by the police on September 13 for "wearing the hijab incorrectly," after which she died.
