The Defense Department of the Jewish State press service reported that Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz plans to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar in Ankara on Thursday.
"For the first time in more than ten years, the Minister of Defense of Israel is holding such meetings in Turkey," added the press service.
The Ministry of Defense of Israel noted that Gantz would "restore defense ties between the two countries" within the framework of the negotiations in Ankara.
On Wednesday evening, before leaving for a two-day visit to Ankara, the head of the Israeli Defense Ministry said that he was waiting for "effective discussions to ensure security, stability, and peace in the Middle East."
