The head of the EU Council wrote on his Twitter that the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, met with the President of Kazakhstan, Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, in Astana.
He stated that "Kazakhstan is an active supporter of regional cooperation. I reaffirmed the EU's deep commitment to peace and stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity."
Opportunities for strengthening economic ties, a "green" agenda, and human rights were also discussed.
The head of the Council of Europe arrived in Astana to participate in the first summit of the leaders of Central Asia and the European Union.
